The TAMU-CC Institutional Review Board (IRB) provides oversight and institutional reviews of research activities involving human subjects to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Our Purpose

TAMU-CC is committed to the protection of the rights and welfare of human research participants recruited to participate in research conducted under its auspices.

The Office of Research Compliance supports the mission of the IRB by:

  • Creating an atmosphere of respect for, and awareness of, the rights and welfare of human research participants at TAMU-CC.
  • Informing researchers about the application of the federal regulations and ethical principles to their area of research to keep researchers current with evolving standards.
  • Providing administrative support and guidance to the TAMU-CC Institutional Review Board (IRB) in the review of research activities.

The TAMU-CC Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for the review and approval of all research involving human subjects conducted under its auspices. The IRB is charged with:

  • Protecting the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations and
  • Reviewing all research projects involving human subjects that: are conducted at institutional facilities or property; are sponsored by the institution; are conducted by or under the direction of any employees or agents of the institution in connection with their institutional responsibilities; or involve the use of the institution’s non-public information to identify or contact human research subjects or prospective subjects.
